Hotel Update: The ILACADA conference room block at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel & Conference Center is now full. If you're still in need of lodging, there may still be rooms available at the Marriott, outside of the conference room block. Otherwise, we recommend the nearby Hyatt Place Bloomington/Normal (please note there is no ILACADA room block for this location.)

Conference Location

The conference will be held in the Bone Student Center (1^st floor) at Illinois State University.

Parking

Conference attendees should park in the Bone Student Center Visitor Pay Lot (397 W. Locust Street, Normal, IL 61761). The parking lot entrance is located off Normal Avenue. Illinois State Admissions recommends using 397 W. Locust Street as your GPS destination, which will direct you to the Bone Student Center parking lot entrance. Attendees that park in this lot will be given a business card size parking validation card at check-in so that you can provide this ticket and the ticket you received upon entry, so that you will not have to pay for parking.

It would be appreciated if ISU attendees could park in their regular parking locations.

Keynote: We're very pleased to announce our Keynote speaker, Dr. Jennifer Bloom!

Dr. Bloom is known for her work in Appreciative Advising. She's currently a Professor of Higher Education Leadership at Florida Atlantic University, but previously hails from right here in Illinois! She earned her B.S. from Illinois State University, and her M.S. and Ed. D from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she also worked for 12 years.

Dr. Bloom's keynote is entitled: "The Power of Questions.”Simply put, the questions we ask ourselves, our students, and others in our lives matter. Yet we are often too busy to reflect on the questions we ask or how they influence the quality of the responses we receive. This engaging session will cover the types of questions, how to craft an engaging appreciative question, and offer sample questions for building trust in relationships.
